Should students have homework? How much? Why? How does it help? How does it hurt? Why do teachers give homework?
Please share your thoughts, opinions and ideas about homework.

I think we should have homework. We shouldn't have a huge pile of homework we should just have a little bit just the right amount. It helps us get smarter to learn what it's about. Teachers give homework because they want us to understand the problems and the work more. I think that we should have homework. If we didn't have homework we wouldn't understand as much as what were supposed to do. My ideas are that we need to get smarter well yah we get smarter learning at school. If we have homework we take it home and try to understand it more. I hope that everyone feels the same way. This is why I think we should have homework!

Yes I do think students should have homework. But we should only have like 4 or 3 to do at night because homework helps you think on your own and to much when the students do it they get tired of doing it and they will just say screw it and not do it or guess. Me and my sister play school and I have noticed she does not like doing that much work so I give her activities like on Because Of Winn-Dixie she has never seen the movie so I her to read a chapter a day and when she got done I let her see the movie. But she got tired of reading the book and she said she read it because on top of that I gave her 2 math worksheets.
So my opinion is that we should have some but not that much.

yes I think students should have homework. They should have a little each week.Because without homework we would not have many grades.Homework helps you understand class work and helps with bad grades if you do it correctly.Homework can hurt you if you do not turn it in,and if you already have a bad grade and you did it wrong then your grade will just be worse.Teachers give homework so students get grades and hopefully good grades.

Yes I think 6th grade students should have homework. I think 6th graders should have homework because if they do it with their parents than their parents have an idea what there doing in that subject. I think that 6th grade students should have a least a page of homework for every subject. I think that homework helps because you are doing it in school and out of school so it stays in your brain. It also helps you understand classwork. I think the only negative affect on homework is that some kids don't like it because they have been at school all day and you just want a break. But I don't feel that way.I think teachers give you homework because they want you to understand what you do in class. Go Homework!!!

I think we should only get very few homework assinments because we usually we go over it in class. Also some kids have sports and it makes it hard to do homework.I also think we should have a lot a homework in sixth grade because this year set's are life up because if you have good grade's you take advance classes in seventh and eighth grade then high school then collage. So the more homework we get the more grades we get the better chance we have to get good grades. Also we will get a good job when we grow up.

I don't think think we should have a lot. Maybe one paper every now and then to help out our grade but come on don't drowned us in homework!!! So yeah I do not think we should have a lot of homework that takes up a lot of time. So like a paper every so often would be good. Like I'm not gonna sit here and act like we should never have homework because we should have a tiny bit. For an example if you have a bad grade and need to get it up homework can really help you out sometimes. So there is my opinion on how much homework we should have.

I think students should have homework but not too much. Not too much that it makes your backpack weigh 500 pounds, just enough to make you remember what to do. I hate when teachers tell me that if I don't get it done in class that I have to take it home, and then give 2 pages of nothing but spelling or multiplying, stuff that we already know . I think if it is something we already have down, don't give homework for it. It's kind of weird. Like I don't even have to ask my parents to check it! For example, usually in the HALLWAY we usually have to read, and occasionally study for a science test or a math sheets. Nothing that important. We always have reading homework. Mr. McGuire says that we have to at least read 15 minutes 4 times. Mrs. Hardin usually teaches good enough in class that most of us understand it, but if it's a hard subject she gives us homework. Mrs. Webb rarely gives homework. Ms. Huysman gives homework just for test. Or occasionally she gives it to us for information. I only think a little bit of homework is good enough. Not 500 pounds worth, but just right. It's like the 3 bears. The 500 pound is to big. None is too small. Enough is just right!

I think that students should have homework I mean nothings bad about homework its just going over the stuff that you have been learning in the past week or so. Homework is such an easy thing if I just listen to the teacher and make sure that I'm understanding everything that your suppose to do to find the answer. I think that students should at least get homework three to four times a week. It shows the teachers how much you know the subject. If you miss like lots of questions they will know that your not really understanding it and then they will try to just keep going over it until you feel more confident about what your learning about. So if you have a test about the topic you won't fail the test you will get at least a b.
I don't think that homework really hurts at any point of time. Homework is just going over everything that you have been talking about. The only reason I could see myself or anyone getting a bad grade on the homework is if they haven't been paying attention in class or just simply don't quite understand everything that has been going on in class and what we have been talking about.
I think that teachers sometimes give homework because it shows them if you just don't understand what your learning, if you know and understand the subject or if you just don't feel like doing it. I think that teachers are smart for giving kids homework because it shows the way they think. Also it shows how different we found our answers to the question or how we messed up on finding the answer to the problem/ question.

I think we should have no homework is my opinion. But we should have to do a lot of work in class and that way we can not forget it at school or at home. the teachers should have every body have a worksheet in stead of homework. because homework is rough on the parents to because if the kid dose not understand then the parent dose not ether and then you will still lose recess for not understanding the homework.
But one paper would be ok for the week and then I would not have rushing problems and get a bad grade especially when I have like 3 pages of homework at a time and a night. I would rather the a quiz than a 3 pages of homework every night.I would rather have have 1 page of homework a night for the week than 5 pages a night for one day.

I think sixth grade students should have a least one paper a day but none on Friday. I think that because we need too at least have something too work on so our teachers can see our skills and how much we understood about a lesson or class without the teachers help. I think we should only have one paper because sometimes kids don't have enough time too do more if they have sports or something else. I think we should have none on Friday because kids need a break from school and that is what the weekend is for, I don't want too have too worry about getting my homework done on a weekend. I think more than one thing a night is too overwhelming for some people. It would be too confusing if I had a social studies paper, a math paper and maybe a science paper. I might get wrong answers because I might write the social studies answer on the science paper, or I might forget too do one of the papers. That is why I think we should only have one paper a night.

I think that students should have little homework. Because sometimes students have sports or things they have to do when they get home. Sometimes homework is a big problem for students. My opinion is students should only have math homework. But know homework on Fridays so we students get the weekend off without worrying about homework and getting in trouble for not doing the homework.
Homework helps because maybe we as in the students do not understand what they are doing in that subject and the homework helps them understand it more. Homework hurts because some people have sports practices, after school band rehearsals, or they plans for that night and they will not get back till later that night.
I some what understand why teachers give homework. I think they give homework to make sure the students understand what they are teaching or the teachers think it would be fun for the students. But sometimes it is NOT fun.

Students should have a little bit of homework but not way to much. We need some for the teachers to know if we get it when there not there to explain it to us, we need it for responsibility, and if we don't get it done in class. I can see why we have that homework but sometimes teachers go overboard. With them giving us homework to see what we know the teachers see what we need to go over a little bit more. On the test they're not going to be there to help us. Also when we get older they wont be there.
It gives us responsibility. We are responsible to not lose our home work and to do it. When we get older we are really responsible. So we do need to know to be responsible because one day we might have kids and that is a human being you will be responsible for.
Some time we just have homework for what we don't have time for in class or we don't get done and class. That homework I see why we ave it sometimes. But not with every paper we don't get done some need to stay home work not school work. Teachers go over board with this kind of home work but we still have to do it we are responsible to do it.

I think Homework is good because the way that the teacher teaches things may not click as much as much as if your parents teach a way to do it. But homework can be bad too. Like if I got a bunch of homework that day and I have to go to My baseball or football game or whatever and have to get my homework done really quick and it gets in the way of things. I think they should still have homework just not as much. I think they should have homework about one time a week. Not everyday. I always have to go somewhere or do something a couple days of the week and I always have to hurry and get my homework done real fast. I think that they shouldn't grade our homework either. That's not showing how much we know. When i'm doing homework usually I always have someone check or help me on it. That's not showing how much I know. But I guess I do learn from my mistakes. So homework is good and bad.

I think we should have homework but not alot. I don't think we should have a lot because since were in school, and were learning everything we should know for a week, and then move on to a different topic. I think kids doing bad in a subject should get more homework in that subject so they can learn more and not gt bad grades. So, I think kids should have homework, but it should be based on well they do on that subject.
